There are two basic types of long distance portals. This is Type A. There are multiple traps. And the holes in the nearby ground.

Portals can be in a passageway or cavern. This one is in a passageway. It could be behind a secret door in what looks like a burial mound. Or a secret way in a ruined castle or basement floor of a keep.

A different Wildlands area. Very little out here. There is a group of evil monsters to the Northwest that attack the Grand Duchy of Winifree.

Otherwise, mostly empty, as far as the sages of Trillolara and Dank Forest know. That could be possible, it is literally in the middle of nowhere in the Southern Hemisphere.

This ‘X marks the spot’ area covers only 10,000 square miles.

Somewhere in that large, 160,000 square miles marked by the black X, area is a planetary portal. The evil symbol goes with the Free City of Greenfields. A very evil place. The wastelands area at the bottom of the X is a very bleak and forlorn area. Take plenty of food and water.

The empty lands have few monsters and even fewer people. If you see them at all. There is more than one ‘empty lands’ on Crestar.
